Have you already missed your chance to qualify and receive up to $30,000 in rebates — or do you still have time to act?
The Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program (OHPA) has helped over 9,000 Nova Scotia homes switch from oil heat to energy-efficient heat pumps. But due to overwhelming demand, program funding is expected to be fully committed in early 2026. Once funding is committed, applications will no longer be guaranteed approval — and many homeowners will be placed on a standby list with no certainty of receiving funding.
This is your final window to take action.
👉Step 1: Submit Your Application
The application itself only takes a few minutes, especially if you have your documents ready. You’ll need things most homeowners already have on hand, like your Notice of Assessment, oil usage records, and a recent power bill.
Have these ready:
- 2024 Notice of Assessment (18+ household members)
- Oil invoices totaling 500L or more
- Property tax or home assessment
- Recent Nova Scotia Power bill
- Photo of your electrical panel
Once submitted, approvals typically take 2–3 weeks. That approval is what locks in your funding — without it, no rebate is reserved.
👉Step 2: Book Your Home Energy Assessment
This is a required step, but it’s also one of the most valuable.
Your Home Energy Assessment is completed by BuildingExpert, a trusted partner of Efficiency Nova Scotia. The assessment:
- Is reimbursed (you get the $199.99 back)
- Identifies where your home is losing energy
- Unlocks access to up to $30,000 in heat pump grants
- May qualify you for additional rebates
