Nova Scotia's Heat Pump Specialists
Nova Scotia homes are their own kind of problem. A 1950s Halifax bungalow with no ductwork, a Valley farmhouse on oil, a South Shore property where salt air eats outdoor equipment for breakfast these need different systems, sized differently, mounted differently. A contractor working from a national playbook gets this wrong.
Mada Construction is based in Halifax and works across the province. We install cold-climate heat pumps built for Atlantic winters; we size every system to the actual heat load of the actual house, and we install through certified tradespeople so your manufacturer warranty stays intact. When something needs attention afterward, you’re calling a local team, not a call centre in another time zone.
We’re upfront about pricing before you commit, and our own Mada Heat Pump Program takes up to $6,500 off the cost of a new system funded by us, not contingent on any external program.

Nova Scotia's Trusted Heat Pump Installer
Save Up to $6,500 with the Mada Heat Pump Program
Federal and provincial oil-conversion funding for Nova Scotia homeowners has closed to new applicants. A lot of the advice still circulating online hasn’t caught up with that.
The Mada Heat Pump Program is our own. It’s funded by us, applied directly to your invoice, and there’s no external application, no waiting list, and no third party deciding whether you qualify.
MADA Construction provides expert HVAC solutions with a simple, streamlined process. Our team helps homeowners choose the right heating and cooling options to improve comfort, efficiency, and long-term performance.
1
Free In-Home Assessment
A Mada advisor visits your home and does the work that determines whether the system will perform: a room-by-room heat load assessment, an electrical panel capacity check, and a look at where the indoor and outdoor units can be sited properly.
2
Pre-Inspection
Before anything is ordered, we confirm the details that change a quote: line-set routing, mounting surfaces, drainage, clearances, and any electrical work required. This is where surprises get found deliberately, before install day rather than during it.
3
Schedule Your Installation
We book a date that works for you and order your equipment. Any permits required for the electrical work are arranged at this stage.
4
Installation Day
Our certified team installs the system: mounting, refrigerant lines, electrical connection, drainage, evacuation, and charging, then startup and testing. We protect floors, and we clean up.
Book Your Free Heat Pump Assessment
Tell us about your home, and we’ll book a free in-home assessment at a time that works for you. You’ll get a room-by-room heat load calculation, a written quote with the Mada Heat Pump Program already applied, and a straight answer about whether a heat pump is right for your property.

I gave Oscar the benefit of the doubt because I’ve known him since I was younger, but Mada Construction completely messed up my HVAC system. The work was unprofessional and unacceptable. I’ve seen other negative reviews before and now understand why. Also they bot reviews which is pathetic. Do not recommend.Posted on Google Umi NurTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a great experience with Mada Construction for air duct cleaning. The team was professional, on time, and explained everything clearly before starting. They were very thorough with the cleaning and left the place spotless afterward. I noticed the air in the house felt fresher almost immediately. Customer service was excellent from start to finish and the pricing was fair with no surprises. Definitely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and honest service.

Heat Pump Installation FAQs — Nova Scotia
How much does heat pump installation cost in Nova Scotia?
A single-zone ductless system typically runs $4,000–$6,500 installed. Multi-zone systems range from $6,500 to $12,000 or more depending on the number of indoor heads. A fully ducted central system generally falls between $10,000 and $18,000+, with the higher end applying where new ductwork is needed. Final cost depends on your electrical capacity, mounting complexity, and equipment tier. The Mada Heat Pump Program can reduce this by up to $6,500.
Do heat pumps actually work in Nova Scotia winters?
Yes — provided it's a cold-climate rated system. Those units are engineered to keep producing efficient heat well below freezing: at −15°C a cold-climate heat pump still delivers at least 70% of its rated capacity and returns at least 1.75 units of heat per unit of electricity. Standard air-source units lose far more capacity in the cold and fall back on electric resistance heat, which costs about the same as baseboard heating. Every system we install for Nova Scotia homes is cold-climate rated.
What's the best heat pump for Nova Scotia winters?
The best system is the one correctly sized for your specific home, using cold-climate-rated equipment with an inverter-driven compressor. For older homes without ductwork, that's usually a ductless multi-zone system. For homes with existing ducts, typically oil furnace replacements, a ducted central system is the more natural fit. Brand matters less than sizing and installation quality; a well-installed mid-tier unit will outperform a poorly-installed premium one every winter.
How long does heat pump installation take?
Physical installation takes 4–8 hours for a single-zone system and 2–3 days for multi-zone or ducted systems. From your first call to a working system typically takes about 14 days, covering assessment, pre-inspection, equipment ordering, and installation. Lead times extend across the province during the October–December peak.
What should I look for when choosing a heat pump installer?
Ask five things: who's doing the refrigerant work and are they certified for it; whether the electrical work is included and licensed; whether your quote is based on a heat load calculation or a square-footage guess; what the equipment's rated capacity and COP are at −15°C; and exactly what the warranty covers, parts and labour, and for how long. Get all of it in writing. Walk away from same-day pressure tactics and any promise that a specific rebate is guaranteed.
